L' Aquila Pescatrice Africana - The African Fish Eagle

juvenile

Haliaetus vocifer

Sua Maestà...
E'comune e bellissima.
Non facilissima da fotografare.
Somiglia molto all'aquila americana,ma il suo carattere
è diverso.Fiero e selvaggio.
Le ultime tre foto sono scattate in Zimbabwe: Matusadona e Mana Pools.
--- Her Majesty...
Common and beautiful, but not so easy to shot.
Similar to the american eagle, isn't it?
The last three pictures are from Zimbabwe: Matusadona and Mana Pools,
and I wish to dedicate them to Diane from "My Life in the Charente" as
she lived so long in Rhodesia.

Beautiful Birds and such a lovely call - I've been trying now for ages to photograph then here on the Orange River.

Thank you so much for the dedication. Looking at these photos I can just hear that magical call, if anything can make me home sick it is the African Fish Eagle, and yes I am now home sick for the country I once knew. So sad it has changed so much. Thank you Diane
