Un Facocero - A Warthog

Phacochoerus aethiopicus

Normalmente scappano sempre.
L'Africa è piena di facoceri che corrono.
Questo no.Questo era curioso e ci guardava.
Infatti è la mia prima foto frontale di un facocero.
---Normally they always run away.
If you drive around in Africa, you will always see
running warthogs. Not this one. This one was curious
and it stopped to watch us.
For this reason this is my only front warthog picture.

Maybe he was hungry and thought you might be his next meal? LOL!!

A lovely picture Andrea. Do you know why when they are young like this they have those long white hairs on the sides of their faces?

It is so that they look as if they already have tusks and their predators will leave them along thinking they can defend themselves.

Nature is fantastic isn't it?

I had to laugh when I saw this. Memories again. We used to have 6 youngsters when I worked at the Vet Laboratory in what was then Rhodesia. They escaped one day, and if you can picture us in pursuit down the main road outside, 6 little piggies with tails in the air doing their best to escape:))) We caught 5 eventually, the last one took several days to appear in the zoological gardens where we finally managed to capture it.
