The Malachite Kingfisher

Alcedo cristata
Piccolissimo:è alto circa 13 cm.
Non sono proprio sicurissimo di questa
classificazione:potrebbe anche essere un Malachite.
Accetto idee.
*** Grazie al prezioso contributo di Joan e Karen (vedi commenti)
ho cambiato il titolo di questo post:non è un Pigmy come avevo scritto
ieri,ma un Malachite ***
---A very small Kingfisher,about 13 cm tall.
I am not quite sure about my classification:
it could be a Malachite.
Maybe someone can help?
*** Thank to the precious contribution from Joan and Karen ( see comments)
I changed the title of this post:it's not a Pigmy as I wrote
yesterday, but a Malachite ***

What a beauty!! This is a Malachite Kinfisher Andrea. The blue head is an indicator of it as well as the white band on the neck. Hope this helps. :)

Hi Andrea - I agree with Joan - it's a malachite. I had the same excitement the other day thinking I might have spotted a pygmy, but it was a malachite after all. They are so beautiful aren't they? Great photo you managed to get!
