Alcedo cristata
Piccolissimo:è alto circa 13 cm.
Non sono proprio sicurissimo di questa
classificazione:potrebbe anche essere un Malachite.
Accetto idee.

ho cambiato il titolo di questo post:non è un Pigmy come avevo scritto

---A very small Kingfisher,about 13 cm tall.
I am not quite sure about my classification:
it could be a Malachite.
Maybe someone can help?

What a beauty!! This is a Malachite Kinfisher Andrea. The blue head is an indicator of it as well as the white band on the neck. Hope this helps. :)
Hi Andrea - I agree with Joan - it's a malachite. I had the same excitement the other day thinking I might have spotted a pygmy, but it was a malachite after all. They are so beautiful aren't they? Great photo you managed to get!
Thank You very much Joan.
Thank You very much Karen.
Yesterday I spent one our mumbling about...
My main concern was about the period: the Pigmy on my Bird Book is a Summer visitor and it was Winter...
I am pleased I could help Andrea. :)
...me encanta esa belleza que siempre repartes
The only one colorful thing among these bare branches is this lovely bird. Great photos Andrea!
Yes I agree no doubt about it being a Malachite. Lovely photos. Diane
